How big can a Garden Room be?

Your garden room can be configured to any shape or size you want! If our standand range doesn’t have the size or shape you are looking for then please speak to us. We will discuss your requirements and provide a drawing to demonstrate what we can do.

Does a MALA garden room add value to my property?

YES! A MALA garden room is estimated to add between 10% to 20% to the value of your house making it an investment that pays for itself.

All our products are constructed with high-quality materials and are beautifully designed to appeal to prospective buyers, adding value to your home.

 

Do You Provide National Coverage?

Is planning permission required for a MALA Structure?

In most cases planning permission will not be required for your MALA construction. It is most likely that your building or deck will fall under permitted development guidelines. To help you understand planning and the associated permitted development guidelines our planning consultants are happy to help where necessary.

How strong and solid are the foundations of a MALA building?

Our foundations are etremely strong and robust! In fact, your MALA Structure will be built on rock-solid foundations. We guarantee a 25-year warranty against rot, ensuring your investment remains sturdy and secure for years to come. We could promise 99 years, but that might sound too good to be true, even though it is!

We employ modern construction techniques, including load-bearing galvanized steel ground screws, which are eco-friendly and preserve surrounding trees during installation. Additionally, the floor frame is constructed from durable steel, meaning you need not be concerned about rotting or warping as you will have a structure built to last a lifetime.

How do I look after the exterior cladding?

The good news is that our composite cladding requires zero maintenance, just sit back and watch it improve with age.

Can you build a large pool table and bar area in a garden room?

Yes! If you want to install a large pool table and bar area in a garden room, we will provide further load baring supports to both the foundations and the steel floor structure if necessary.

Can you put heavy gym equipment inside a garden room?

Yes! If you want to store heavu gym equipment inside a garden room, we will provide further load baring supports to both the foundations and the steel floor structure if necessary.

Can you build a dance home studio in a garden room?

Yes! If you want to install a dance floor into your garden room we will provide further load baring supports to both the foundations and the steel floor structure if necessary. This is great for teaching dance lessons in your own home dance studio. Building a MALA room is the closest you can get to making a dance studio in your home!  

What type of flooring is installed within a MALA garden room?

Our standard flooring comes with a high quality click flooring system. Click flooring provides a luxury look and feel and is durable, warm and water resistant, making it an excellent choice. Various alternative flooring designs are available for you to choose from and we’re confident you’ll find one that suits your taste.

Can I have extra windows or roof lights?

Yes you absolutely can! Our buildings come with bifold doors and a window as standard -but we can easily add more windows or a rooflight if necessary. It’s completely up to you!

What finish are the interior walls inside a MALA garden room?

The interior walls and floors are plastered and finished in white emulsion as a standard – but feel free to specify your own colour choice.

What are the exterior design options?

Our MALA rooms come with our highly desired clad as standard. Our granny annexes and extensions come with alternative options such as brick, porcelain or render. Unless you are looking to match a material into an existing building, we highly recommend our signature range clad as it really stands out well and gives a fantastic look to a new garden building.

Does MALA provide smart heating systems?

Yes, Mala buildings are installed with smart panel slimline electric heating systems that are highly efficient, fully programmable and are controllable from a thermostat. We even have an option to control your room temperature from your phone so you will always be warm and snug! You can even opt for a beautiful wood burner so long as there aren’t any local council restircitions.

How does the build process begin?

Initially we will ask you to send us a video of your property, garden and access points that are relevant to the structure being built. We will then be able to make an assessment of the area where the structure will be built, whether that’s a garden room, garden office, extension, granny annexe, leisure pod or lodge. We will decide where the foundations are to be built and where the electrics will go (and water and sewerage if required). We want to ensure your build process runs trouble free. Therefore, after watching your video, we may contact you and arrange a site visit if we feel this is necessary to complete a thorough assessment.

What lights and sockets does Mala install?

A Mala building is fitted with our standard electrical pack. This comprises of interior recessed energy efficient and dimmable interior ceiling spot lights and double electrical and USB sockets to each corner of the room. The exterior of a Mala building has recessed pelmet lights and ‘welcome’ up and down lighters, situated at either side of the doors.

The standard electrical pack can be upgraded to include colour changeable mood lighting both for the interior and exterior, and lighting that is controllable from your phone. Your external light fittings also come in a range of coloured fittings, standard stainless and optional black and rose gold.

Your Mala building is fully wired to create whatever mood lighting you want!

Does a Mala building have a security system?
Yes, Mala provide the additional option to have both wireless alarm systems and cameras that can operate through your phone.
Is a Mala building soundproof?

If you are looking for a sound proof garden room, a Mala room comes fully soundproofed and is more than sufficient for most usages. If, however your Mala building is to become centre stage for the next rock band or a full-on movie night cinematic sound room, then additional sound deadening soundproofing can be added as an option.

Will I have Wi-Fi?
Many Mala buildings are located close enough to the router in the main house to logon to your home network – can you get a wi-fi signal on your phone where you would like you new building sited? Alternatively, as part of the upgraded electric pack we hardwire your internet into your building.
What size is a MALA granny annexe?

Your granny annexe can be configured to any shape or size you want! If our standand range doesn’t have the size or shape you are looking for then please speak to us. We will discuss your requirements and provide a drawing to demonstrate what we can do.

What size is a MALA garden room?

How long is the build process?

A MALA Room could be built in as little as 4 weeks. If you’re looking for a bespoke size or design then our design and build team will give you a build time after the initial assessment and planning session. We aim to complete our builds as quickly as possible without compromising on quality and design! 

Is Solar power an option?
Solar panels can be installed as an additional option, and for some rooms situated in bright areas this can be worth considering not only to reduce your energy cost but also be environmentally friendly.
How can I be sure of the exact days the installation team will be working?

We will provide you with a build programme so that you know exactly what is happening on what days. As skilled designers, planners and trades people, we understand how precious your space is and respect the fact that we are working in your garden. That’s why we want you know exactly what is happening at what time so that you can plan ahead. To put you at ease, you can call the director who is overseeing the install at any time, should you have any quesions.

Does MALA build at weekends?

We try to avoid weekend working where possible, but if there is a specific working schedule you would like us to accommodate then we would be happy to discuss this with you.

What guarantee does a Mala building come with?

MALA provide one of the longest structural guarantees available of 25 years. Our cladding, decking and door systems are all, grown, manufactured or built to last a lifetime. Our range is hugely popular these days, so invest in one that will stand the test of time. 

How does the payment process work?

You can place your order and get the ball rolling with a 10% deposit of the total cost of your project. Two stage payments can then be made at commencement of build stage with the final payment made on completion of the build.
